Print FAQ
Everything about ordering a print, in one place. Prints are made and shipped by Darkroom; the photographs are mine.
Are these photographs shot on film?
Yes. Every photograph is shot on 35mm film with a Canon AE-1, mostly on Kodak ColorPlus, Kodak Gold, and Kodak Portra 400. The grain, color, and occasional imperfections are part of the work.
Which paper should I choose?
There are three options. Professional paper is Fujicolor Crystal Archive Professional Lustre (210gsm): a vibrant, fine-grain pebble finish, printed with the traditional silver halide RA-4 wet process and rated for 100+ years on display. Fine art paper is Moab Entrada Bright Rag (290gsm, 100% cotton): a museum-grade, acid- and lignin-free paper with a textured matte finish, printed with high-resolution inkjet. Framed prints come ready to hang in a handmade solid wood frame.
What are the framed prints like?
Each frame is handmade from solid wood in black, white, or natural, with a UV- and scratch-resistant acrylic cover and a 2-inch white mat. The mat and frame add 6.5 inches to the print size, so a framed 12×18 print measures 18.5×24.5 inches. The frame edge is 1.125 inches wide and 0.75 inches deep.
What sizes are available?
Every photograph comes in four sizes: 8×12, 10×15, 12×18, and 16×24 inches. Paper prints can have no border or a white border; a white border doesn't change the overall size of the print. See all prints.
How much does a print cost?
An 8×12 print starts at $60 on professional or fine art paper, and framed prints start at $120. Prices for every size and finish are listed on each print's order page.
Are the prints signed?
No. Prints are made to order by the print lab and ship directly to you, so they aren't signed.
Are the prints limited editions?
No. The prints are open editions, printed only when they're ordered, so nothing sells out.
How long does it take to receive a print?
Prints go into production soon after you order. Printing takes 1–2 business days for professional paper, 2–3 for fine art paper, and 5–7 for framed prints, plus shipping time. Darkroom emails you when your print ships.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Prints ship worldwide, and international orders are insured.
Can I return a print?
Because every print is made to order, sales are final and returns aren't accepted for a change of mind or the wrong size. If a print arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, Darkroom will replace it free of charge: contact their support team with photos of the print.
Where were these photographs taken?
